Lydia
The day I was planning to have Eliana’s very first birthday party, Lydia Nacole (4) decided to crash in. She was born 5 weeks too early on March 18th, 2004 at UAB in Birmingham, AL. She had some problems with her lung development and had to spend her first week and half in the Intensive Care Nursery. I would drive in everyday to see her and take her milk, except for the day that we successfully had big sis’ birthday party.
Lydia is my loner. She can play happily by herself for hours. Sometimes she gets so absorbed in whatever she’s doing you have to make a noise or touch her to get her to pay attention.
She learns by observation. I’ll never forget when she suddenly counted to 10 by herself one day even though I hadn’t taken the time to teach her yet. I started quizzing her, and it turned out, she knew her colors and shapes too. Her attitude about it all was quite nonchalant as if to say, “I’m didn’t mean to Mom, I learned it on accident”.
Lydia’s favorites:
- Color: Blue
- Food: Broccoli
- Dance move: Moving slowly with arms out and a leg up
- Person: Me! (Aunt Denise and Pat-Pat tie for second)
- Character: Diego
