Bye, Bye, Fishy!

The only fish that we’ve been able to keep alive in our tank are guppies, and GloFish. All of the other fish we’ve attempted to keep have died for on reason or another.

The last time I bought more fish, I got another guppy, and three high fin tetras. The tetras are bigger, about two inches, and they won’t eat from the top, they wait till the food drifts down some. They swim really close together, and don’t socialize much with the smaller fish.

The first tetra died when I forgot to feed them almost all day. I guess the pother fish got aggressive and started picking at him. He wasn’t eating, and was swimming like he had tourette syndrome. Fearful of him getting sickly and affecting the other fish, I went ahead and flushed him.

Yesterday, Eliana called me to the tank saying, “Momma! He’s stuck!” Sure enough, one of the tetras was stuck under a fake plant limb. He started swimming funny, and wouldn’t eat. A few hours later, he was dead and stuck to the filter intake *sigh*. The girls were un-phased as this had been the millionth time a fish died in the last two months we’ve had the tank. Eliana even told him, “Bye, Bye, Fishy!” as I flushed the toilet.

So now our last tetra, who is supposed to be in a group of at least 3-5.. is all alone. We’ll see how long that lasts.
