All Growed Up!
December 16th, 2008All the working mom’s out there can surely understand my joy when I say my three year old is finally potty trained. Yes, you read right, Chloe at the age of three, has still been struggling with diaper freedom. But I finally caught on to why. It wasn’t because she wasn’t able to, it was pure laziness.
One day, when she was urged by Chris and Lydia to go potty, she plainly said, “I don’t want to.” She had to be forced under threat to go to the bathroom. It hit me that.. she didn’t have a reason to go. She had a pull-up on, and she could change into a fresh one when she needed to, why interrupt her playing for such a trivial thing? Even when I compelled day panties, she wouldn’t make much of an effort. So I made a decision; she wouldn’t wear anything at all, she would be Chloe in the flesh, so that she had nothing to catch her laziness but the floor or the toilet.
It’s been a few days, and it’s been up and down, but finally, she has taken herself all day long, practically by herself, no accidents, even after begging to wear her day panties out! (Usually, we would put a pull up or diaper on her when we’d go out in case she forgot or couldn’t hold it.) Then tonight, she did the unexpected. She took herself to the bathroom for number 2, all by herself!
So the day has arrived. I’m baby free.
But not for long! August 5th comes soon enough. Don’t worry, it’s not me, my lovely sister-in-law is providing me a bundle of joy to dote over. Amanda is hoping for a girl, and we are all so excited for her. Please pray that the sickness isn’t as bad this time for her.
YEAH!!! Grandma is so proud of Chloe. And think of the money you will save.
Love Ya Sis.
Emily too just completed potty training. And we had pretty much the same problem. We didn’t have to go as far as you guys, but we did let her pick out her own big girl panties. She was mortified the first time she wet them. Simply making it her choice helped. Don’t you just love the freedom of not having to by pull-ups.
Congrats to Chloe!
